World Kindness Day 2024

Wednesday, 13th November

What’s On?

This year we will be holding our World Kindness Day Virtual Assemblies for primary schools on Wednesday 13th November (coinciding with Anti-Bullying Week)!  We will also be releasing a brand new World Kindness Day Activity Pack for schools. Last year, more than 71,000 children took part in our assemblies and we’re planning for 2024 to be even bigger!

World Kindness Day Pack
Our World Kindness Day Pack is filled with fun activities to help children focus on kindness to both themselves and others. It is suitable for Key Stages 1 and 2.

Ideas for Schools Celebrating World Kindness Day

Each year, schools all over the country celebrate World Kindness Day with us. We encourage children to spread kindness, while also learning about the impact being kind will have on their own physical and mental health. Here are just a few ideas that might provide some inspiration for your school…

Celebrate Kindness in your School: We have free brilliant resources to download to help you run your very own mini-Kindness Awards in your school.
Download them here

Take part in our national Kindness Awards: On World Kindness Day, nominations will open once again for our national Kindness Awards.

Sponsored Activities: Children can choose to do a variety of sponsored activities around the them of ’52’  to raise funds for the 52 Lives Kindness Charity. In previous years, children baked 52 cupcakes, did 52 burpees, ran 52 laps of their school field, made 52 pairs of socks to sell…to name just a few.
You can set up a fundraising page for your school here.

Hold a Mufti-Day: This is another simple way to raise funds and spread kindness (some schools ask their student to wear purple of green and donate £1 for 52 Lives on World Kindness Day).

Join our Kindness Ambassador Programme and Spread Kindness in your School or Community: We have a network of Kindness Ambassadors in schools all over the country.
Find out how to join the programme here

Take on a Kindness Challenge: Every month n our Kids’ Kindness Club, we set the children a Kindness Challenge. Sign up to our free Kids’ Club and take on a World Kindness Day Challenge in November!

Learn about the Science of Kindness: Kindness doesn’t just help other people, it also improves our own physical and mental health. Teaching children about the effects of kindness will empower them to take charge of their own well-being. We have a range of free video lesson plans available to download here.

Decorate your Classroom! We have a range of printable colour posters with facts about kindness, kind quotes and kind science. Browse them here

How did World Kindness Day begin?

World Kindness Day was first launched in 1998 by The World Kindness Movement, an organisation formed at a 1997 Tokyo conference of kindness organisations around the world. There are currently more than 28 nations involved in The World Kindness Movement. The mission of the World Kindness Movement and World Kindness Day is to create a kinder world by inspiring individuals and nations towards greater kindness.
