We are thrilled to share that East Hunsbury Primary School is the winner of this year’s national Kind School Award.
At East Hunsbury, kindness isn’t just about a one-off acts – it’s a way of life. Their motto, “Be Kind,” runs through everything they do, from a bespoke PSHE+C curriculum to real-world actions that create lasting impact inside and outside the classroom.
🌟 From Kindness Ambassadors and Positive Noticing Days, to random acts of crochet kindness shared with their community, East Hunsbury pupils are taught to care deeply – for themselves, each other, and the world around them.
👵 Their pupils partner with local seniors for intergenerational activities, help plant and clean public spaces, host community cafés, and distribute weekly food parcels to local families.
📚 Even their library champions compassion, filled with books that inspire empathy and inclusion. Every part of the school – including its specialist provision – aims for equity, joy, and connection.
As one judge said:
“Reading East Hunsbury Primary’s submission was a genuine joy. It wasn’t just the words on the page — it was the feeling between them. You could sense a school where kindness isn’t an act but a rhythm, pulsing through every relationship. Children, staff, families, and the local community — all bound by a quiet, powerful commitment to care. East Hunsbury isn’t just teaching kindness. They’re living it. And that changes everything.”
As winners, East Hunsbury Primary will receive a Kindness Table from NBB Recycled Furniture for their playground, kind book bundles, subscriptions to The Week Junior and more.
Thank you to all of the schools nominated! There is so much kindness happening in our primary schools and the judges had a very tough job.
